{"id":483929,"date":"2026-06-05T04:54:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T04:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/483929\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T04:54:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T04:54:14","slug":"northern-lights-could-appear-after-huge-solar-flare-eruptions-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/483929\/","title":{"rendered":"Northern Lights could appear after huge solar flare eruptions | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAQAAAADCAQAAAAe\/WZNAAAAEElEQVR42mM8U88ABowYDABAxQPltt5zqAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==\" alt=\"image\" class=\"img-responsive lazyload full default\" width=\"1440\" height=\"1440\" data- data-\/><\/p>\n<p>(NASA SDO via SWNS)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Dean Murray<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brits could catch a glimpse of the <a href=\"https:\/\/talker.news\/2025\/04\/24\/lamb-born-during-northern-lights-in-jaw-dropping-photo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Northern Lights<\/a> tonight after three huge solar flares.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NASA reported a trio of <a href=\"https:\/\/talker.news\/2026\/05\/22\/having-a-blast-scientists-capture-suns-failed-solar-eruption\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eruptions from the Sun<\/a> this week &#8211; and warned they are causing radio blackouts across the globe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the Met Office said the solar activity might mean people in Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England get a sighting of <a href=\"https:\/\/talker.news\/2025\/01\/13\/northern-lights-captured-above-scottish-hills-in-stunning-photos\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">aurora borealis<\/a> on Thursday, June 4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The weather service said: &#8220;The auroral oval is likely to become active later on Thursday evening, with aurora likely to be visible Scotland and Northern Ireland, and a slight chance of sightings from northern England, in response to a potential geomagnetic storm<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The activity may last into Friday.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAQAAAADCAQAAAAe\/WZNAAAAEElEQVR42mM8U88ABowYDABAxQPltt5zqAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==\" alt=\"image\" class=\"img-responsive lazyload full default\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" data- data-\/><\/p>\n<p>The Northern Lights. (SWNS)<\/p>\n<p>                                    By Talker<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NASA&#8217;s Solar Dynamics Observatory spacecraft, which watches the Sun constantly, captured images of one of the three flares on Wednesday, June 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The space agency said: &#8220;Flares and <a href=\"https:\/\/talker.news\/2026\/04\/16\/nasa-scientists-detects-surprise-explosion-on-sun\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">solar eruptions<\/a> can impact radio communications, electric power grids, navigation signals, and pose risks to spacecraft and astronauts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This flare is classified as an X1.0 flare.
