{"id":485135,"date":"2026-06-05T21:09:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T21:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/485135\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T21:09:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T21:09:09","slug":"research-ireland-wants-to-hear-from-donegal-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/485135\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Ireland wants to hear from Donegal people"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IRELAND\u2019S research agency is appealing to Donegal people to engage in a new national project.<\/p>\n<p>The agency, called Research Ireland, was set up in 2024 through a merger of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and the Irish Research Council (IRC).<\/p>\n<p>It funds academic research, innovation, and post-graduate talent across all disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>The national research and funding agency today (Thursday) launched the Research in Ireland Barometer 2026, a new national project designed to \u201cbuild a richer, more inclusive understanding of how people in Donegal and encounter, engage with, and experience research in their everyday lives\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-website-image wp-image-261228\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Research-Ireland-launches-national-project-to-understand-how-people-across-Ireland-experience-resear.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"430\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Research Ireland launches national project to understand how people across Ireland experience research.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson said: \u201cThe Barometer focuses on capturing lived experience \u2013 the stories, contexts, and perspectives that shape how people relate to research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis reflects Research Ireland\u2019s long-standing commitment to public engagement, comprising decades of nationwide outreach and education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Barometer will serve as a baseline for the years ahead, offering a clearer picture of how research is understood, trusted, and encountered across different communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the same time, it reflects an ambition to broaden participation, ensuring that people of all ages, backgrounds, and circumstances can contribute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-261230\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Director-of-Research-for-Society-at-Research-Ireland-Dr-Ruth-Freeman.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr Ruth Freeman, who is Research Ireland\u2019s director of research for society, said: \u201cBarometer 2026 represents an important step in opening up conversations about research across society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are taking a community-engaged approach to understand how people experience research in their everyday lives, from the decisions they make to the information they encounter and trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Research Ireland is inviting everyone living in Ireland aged over 16 to take part in the Barometer project.<\/p>\n<p>See the researchireland.ie website for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"IRELAND\u2019S research agency is appealing to Donegal people to engage in a new national project.
