James Matthews, who wed Pippa Middleton<\/a> in 2017, is fighting to keep an electric gate he installed on their Berkshire property in 2022 after complaints arose that it\u2019s blocking a public path, reports The Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n Citing the \u201chigh profile\u201d nature of being a royal in-law<\/a>, the businessman, 50, insists there\u2019s \u201ca need for a higher level of security\u201d for himself, his wife, 42, and their three kids, Arthur, 7, Grace, 5, and Rose, 3.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the couple also alleges the path in question was always private until a 2023 application got submitted to recognize it as a public route.<\/p>\n \u201cHarry and Meghan have no issue with Pippa and James being allowed to have this gate \u2014 if they feel they need protection they should have it,\u201d the source tells Star. \u201cWhat infuriates Meghan and Harry is the double standard.\u201d<\/p>\n WP#JRAK \/ WENN.com \/ MEGA<\/p>\n The Sussexes were stripped of their government-funded police detail upon stepping down as senior working royals in 2020 \u2014 and Harry\u2019s fought for years<\/a> to get it reinstated.<\/p>\n \u201cHe has been treated as though he\u2019s totally out of bounds and shouldn\u2019t dare ask for so-called special treatment,\u201d dishes the source. \u201cYet, the palace reaction to Pippa and James seemingly asking for special treatment has been the opposite.
