{"id":48526,"date":"2025-09-28T10:10:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-28T10:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/48526\/"},"modified":"2025-09-28T10:10:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-28T10:10:08","slug":"chinas-full-stack-ai-ambitions-on-show-at-alibabas-apsara-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/48526\/","title":{"rendered":"China\u2019s \u2018full stack\u2019 AI ambitions on show at Alibaba\u2019s Apsara Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China\u2019s full artificial intelligence technology stack was on display at this year\u2019s Apsara Conference, the annual gathering of Alibaba Cloud users and developers held every September in Hangzhou, capital of eastern Zhejiang province.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Downpours on Wednesday failed to keep crowds away following an opening speech by Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu Yongming, where he announced new AI infrastructure spending beyond the originally promised US$53 billion, sending the company\u2019s shares to a four-year high.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Crowds swelled on the two remaining days despite temperatures reaching 35.5 degrees Celsius, as Alibaba Cloud users, developers and investors sought to get a first-hand glimpse of the technologies driving the company\u2019s ambition to become a \u201cleading global full-stack AI service provider\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">These included AI hardware, applications and foundational models \u2013 the respective themes of this year\u2019s exhibition halls \u2013 which totalled 40,000 square meters in area. Alibaba owns the Post.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">According to Beijing-based tech analyst Poe Zhao, who attended the conference, this year\u2019s exhibits were centred around AI applications instead of large language models, which was last year\u2019s focus. \u201cMy main takeaway was that large language models have sort of become a foundational infrastructure,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"This year\u2019s Apsara Conference attracted large crowds, including school children keen to catch up on the latest developments in AI.
