In a family filled with accolades, it takes a lot to earn the title of \u201cmost interesting royal,\u201d and yet, for many fans, Princess Anne takes the prize. The only daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the low-key Princess Royal is not only a longtime working member of the monarchy, she\u2019s also a former Olympian<\/a>, Colonel-in-Chief of the British Army’s Intelligence Corps, and once fended off a kidnapper<\/a> armed with nothing but her own unflappable attitude.<\/p>\n

She also happens to be a mother of two, though, unlike her older brother, King Charles, her kids don\u2019t bear royal titles. Anne shares a son, Peter Phillips<\/a>, and a daughter, Zara Tindall, with her first husband Mark Phillips<\/a> (Anne married her current husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence<\/a>, in 1992, the same year her divorce from Phillips was finalized.) And while they might not share their cousins\u2019s HRH status, both Peter and Zara are impressive royal figures in their own right.<\/p>\n

Born in 1977, Peter was the first grandchild of Queen Elizabeth (and was long rumored to be the late monarch\u2019s favorite.) At the time of his birth, he was 5th in line for the throne, however subsequent years and a new royal generation have bumped him down to number 19 in the order of succession.<\/p>\n

According to the rules governing hereditary royal titles, Peter did not inherit one at birth (titles flow from the paternal line under the British system) however, it\u2019s widely reported that Elizabeth offered to impart a title to him\u2014an offer which Anne declined, reportedly in the hopes it would allow him to live a more normal life. Part of that more normal life has included jobs in sports management as well as positions with brands like Jaguar, an F1 racing team, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and SEL UK.<\/p>\n

Peter married Autumn Kelly in 2008 at Windsor Castle and the two remained together for over a decade before announcing their separation in 2020. They officially divorced the following year. The former couple share two daughters, Savannah<\/a> and Isla<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2025, he announced his engagement to Harriet Sperling<\/a>, an NHS nurse and freelance writer whom he had been publicly dating for over a year. The couple are set to exchange vows in a private ceremony on June 6, 2026.<\/p>\n

Four years after the birth of Peter, Princess Anne welcomed her second child, a baby girl named Zara<\/a>. Like her brother, Zara did not inherit a title at birth, and her parents are said to have declined the offer of one to her.<\/p>\n

The lack of HRH status hasn\u2019t held Zara back, though. Following in the footsteps of both of her parents (her father Mark took home Olympic gold in 1972) Zara became on Olympic equestrian, winning a silver medal at the 2012 games in London\u2014one which was sweetly presented to her by her own royal mom.<\/p>\n

In 2011, she married rugby player Mike Tindall at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, and the couple have subsequently celebrated the birth of three children: Mia<\/a>, Lena<\/a>, and their only son, Lucas<\/a>.<\/p>\n
