{"id":488261,"date":"2026-06-08T01:01:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T01:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/488261\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T01:01:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T01:01:09","slug":"nine-injured-in-shooting-near-englands-world-cup-base-in-kansas-city-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/488261\/","title":{"rendered":"Nine injured in shooting near England\u2019s World Cup base in Kansas City \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Nine people have been injured following a shooting near <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/england-football-team\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/england-football-team\/\">England<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/world-cup\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/world-cup\/\">World Cup<\/a> base in Kansas City, Missouri.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The team were not at the hotel when the incident occurred at about 4am local time on Saturday, having been preparing for their friendly game against New Zealand in Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Police were called to reports of an incident on Troost Avenue around five miles from the training base camp that Thomas Tuchel\u2019s side will use during the tournament.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Athletic reported that officers had been dispatched after shots were heard being fired and arrived to find a large crowd dispersing. Three adult females had sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It was later reported that nine adults had gone to various local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. No suspects are in custody but officers are continuing to patrol the location.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">England are not due to arrive at the base until Saturday once they have played their final warm-up game against Costa Rica in Orlando on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Football Association declined to comment when contacted by the Press Association.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Argentina and the Netherlands are also due to be based in Kansas City during the tournament. \u2013 PA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nine people have been injured following a shooting near England\u2019s World Cup base in Kansas City, Missouri.
