Anthony Neeson<\/a><\/p>\nThe Knights of St. Patrick held their annual spring gathering on June 3.<\/p>\n
Ireland\u2019s Consul General, Gerald Angley, graciously hosted the event at Ireland House in Manhattan. The Chairman of the Knights of Saint Patrick, John F. Tully, told the gathering that 38 years ago, a small group of men and women came together to form the Knights to help save the New York City St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade from a severe financial crisis.<\/p>\n

Over the years, the Knights have contributed $1.9m in support of the Parade.<\/p>\n
In recent years, the Knights have expanded their charitable presence by supporting organizations such as Solace House, the Emerald Isle Immigration Center, and St. Patrick\u2019s Cathedral. The Knights have also placed a special focus on supporting local St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parades, which continue to keep the spirit of St. Patrick and Irish America alive. In 2026, the Knights contributed to 11 parades throughout all five boroughs and surrounding counties.<\/p>\n
During the gathering, Chairman Tully introduced the Board of Directors of the Knights of St. Patrick Charitable Foundation, a New York State not-for-profit corporation. This foundation will enable the Knights to broaden their charitable support for Irish-American cultural events across the New York metropolitan area.<\/p>\n
James McCarthy, Chair of the Knights of Foundation\u2019s Board of Directors, said the new Foundation will enhance the Knights\u2019 charitable endeavors by raising funds and identifying opportunities for increased support of Irish-American cultural and educational organizations and events throughout the area.<\/p>\n
The Knights will continue their significant support of the New York City Parade and other local parades. Jim also announced several fundraising ideas currently being developed.<\/p>\n
The members were enthusiastic about the opportunity to grow the charitable presence of the Knights.
