Trevor Dietz, manager of Dublin band Fontaines DC<\/a>, has been remembered as the \u201csixth member of the band\u201d following his death.<\/p>\n

In a statement on social media the band said that they were \u201cutterly heartbroken\u201d in the wake of Dietz\u2019s death. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are utterly heartbroken to let you know that on Sunday, June 7th, we lost our dear friend and manager Trevor,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrevor was beside us from the beginning of our journey as a band, we have never known Fontaines DC without him, the sixth member of the band. He cared passionately for us and for what was fair and right in the wider world. He was fearless in his beliefs. We will miss him always.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band asked that fans respect the privacy of the Dietz family and the group at this \u201cterribly difficult time\u201d. <\/p>\n

Dietz signed Fontaines DC in 2016 and oversaw their rise from a group of music students at BIMM (British and Irish Modern Music Institute) in the Liberties, to Grammy and Mercury Prize nominated artists. <\/p>\n

He was a graduate of Belvedere College and started working in Dublin\u2019s music scene in 2001. He began working with Workman\u2019s in 2010 and ran club nights on bank holiday Sundays, which showcased unsigned music acts to support new and emerging artists. <\/p>\n

While the members of Fontaines DC were still students, Dietz booked them to play at Workman\u2019s on multiple occasions before becoming their manager.<\/p>\n

Mogla\u00ed Bap of Belfast rap group Kneecap commented \u201cSuaimhneas s\u00edora\u00ed Trev\u201d under the band\u2019s post, while DJ Annie McManus said \u201csending all my love to you lads and to Trevor\u2019s loved ones\u201d. <\/p>\n

English punk rock group Lambrini Girls also paid tribute: \u201cRest in peace, Trev. He went above and beyond for everyone and championed so many DIY bands, the impact he had is beyond measure. Lost for words. Sending our love and condolences to all of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simon Merriman, promoter and director at Singular Artists, shared his condolences saying: \u201cOn a personal level, I\u2019m lost for words right now. I\u2019ve known Trev for a long time. He was a huge figure within the Irish music industry and played an enormous role in shaping it for so many people. The impact he had on artists, audiences and those working across the industry cannot be overstated.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cHis legacy will continue to be felt across the Irish music industry for many years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a social media post published on Dietz\u2019s personal Instagram account in September, he said \u201ceven after 10 years of working with Fontaines DC across five album releases and hundreds of gigs, their songwriting genius, incredible live performances and sheer strength to take on and absolutely smash every single night of such extensive tours, never ceases to blow my mind.
