Chat Pile<\/a> are back with a new album. Who Loves the Sun follows the Oklahoma noise-rockers\u2019 2024 LP Cool World<\/a> and last year\u2019s pleasantly unexpected Hayden Pedigo<\/a> collab album In the Earth Again<\/a>. The new LP title is a reference to the Velvet Underground\u2019s 1970 track<\/a>, but, per the band, \u201cnot in any profoundly meaningful way.\u201d \u201cDeep Blue\u201d leads it off, with a video documenting strange goings on in a macabre barbershop. \u201cThis record focuses on my grievances with the modern world,\u201d singer, screamer, and songwriter Ray B. said in a press release, surprising no one. \u201cAI, genocide, climate change, the power elite, $$$$ hoarding pigs\u2014all that shit fucks up your life and mine. The band is definitely stretching out their abilities on the album and I too felt inspired to go further\u2014as a huge fan of Boston, I like to think Brad Delp is somewhere up there, smiling down, as I take the layering to new heights, but who can say? We have fun with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bassist Stin continued, \u201cI feel Who Loves the Sun is grappling with the challenges of trying to keep one\u2019s humanity in a time of extreme anti-humanity.\u201d The single, Stin added, set the tone for the album. \u201cI personally love this because it sounds like Chat Pile doing a Billy Squire song. It\u2019s our \u2018Lonely Is the Night,\u2019 which is actually a fake Led Zeppelin song so who knows what the hell we\u2019re actually doing here?\u201d<\/p>\n
