Teyana Taylor<\/a> is adding another accolade to an already remarkable career. BET announced today that the Harlem native will receive the Icon of the Year Award at the BET Awards 2026, which will be held later this month at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Comedian Druski is set to host the ceremony.<\/p>\n

The honor recognizes an artist whose influence is currently resonating throughout entertainment and popular culture. Few figures fit that description better than Taylor, who has spent the past several years expanding her reach far beyond music. \u201cTeyana Taylor is the embodiment of what it means to be an icon in this moment,\u201d said Connie Orlando, EVP, Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, BET. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t ask for a seat at the table; she builds the table, designs the rooms, and sets the tone for everyone who walks in. Many first came to know Taylor as a recording artist. Her 2014 debut album VII helped establish her as a rising force in R&B, while later projects such as K.T.S.E. and The Album further solidified her place within the genre. Songs including \u201cGonna Love Me\u201d and \u201cIssues\/Hold On\u201d became some of the biggest records of her career, while collaborations with artists such as Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Erykah Badu<\/a>, and Elton John showcased her versatility.<\/p>\n

More recently, Taylor has become one of the entertainment industry’s most sought-after multi-hyphenates. Her work in film has earned widespread acclaim, including a Critics Choice Award for A Thousand and One. Earlier this year, she received a Golden Globe for her supporting role in One Battle After Another, which also earned her an Academy Award nomination. Taylor has also appeared in projects including The Rip alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and Ryan Murphy\u2019s All\u2019s Fair.<\/p>\n
