\n\tJoe Alwyn<\/a> is set to join the cast of upcoming espionage thriller \u201cLegacy of Spies<\/a>,\u201d a joint BBC\/MGM+ co-production.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlwyn will play MI6 agent Jim Prideaux in the eight-part series, which is based on John le Carr\u00e9\u2019s \u201cThe Spy Who Came in from the Cold,\u201d while Hugh Laurie<\/a> joins as his spy agency boss Control.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt was previously announced that Matthew Macfadyen would play George Smiley alongside Charlie Hunnam as field operative Alec Leamas, Daniel Br\u00fchl as Josef Fiedler and Dan Stevens as Bill Haydon.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnjana Vasan (\u201cWe Are Lady Parts\u201d), Charlotte Ritchie (\u201cYou\u201d), Lee Ross (\u201cAndor\u201d) James McArdle (\u201cMare of Easttown\u201d), John Dagleish (\u201cSexy Beast\u201d), Goran Bogdan (\u201cThe Last Panthers\u201d) and Adam Hugill (\u201cSherwood\u201d) round out the new cast additions.<\/p>\n

\n\tDevrim Lingnau Islamo\u011flu, Agnes O\u2019Casey, Felix Kammerer, Jake Dunn, Safia Oakley-Green, Ariyon Bakare, Patrick G\u00fcldenberg, Volker Bruch and Saskia Rosendahl also star.<\/p>\n

\n\tClaudia Llosa (\u201cThe Vampire Lestat\u201d) also joins as second director on the series. Michael Lennox is lead director and executive producer. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe show is set to be a family production with le Carr\u00e9\u2019s sons, Stephen, Simon and Nick Cornwell steering the ship. Stephen Cornwell (\u201cMessage from the King\u201d) showruns and writes the series alongside Clarissa Ingram. Simon Cornwell exec produces while Nick Cornwell is executive producer for the John le Carr\u00e9 estate.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe are delighted to have Academy Award nominee and Golden Bear winner Claudia Llosa bring her vision and cinematic sensibility to \u2018Legacy,\u2019\u201d said Stephen and Simon Cornwell brothers. \u201cHer joining Michael on directorial duties has only compounded what is shaping up to be a truly remarkable production.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s wonderful to welcome Hugh into a new dimension of the le Carr\u00e9 universe alongside his brilliant portrayal of Richard Roper in \u2018The Night Manager,\u2019 and we\u2019re thrilled that Joe, who we first worked with on Ang Lee\u2019s \u2018Billy Lynn\u2019s Long Halftime Walk,\u2019 is now joining us in this momentous undertaking as well.<\/p>\n
