Directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions are still awaited in the case of a Donegal man who was charged last month as part of a major probe into the alleged sale and supply of drugs in the county.<\/p>\n

Ben Quinn appeared before Letterkenny District Court this week having previously been brought before a special sitting of the court last month.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old, of Market Close, Castlefin, has been charged with offences relating to that address on March 14, 2025.<\/p>\n

Quinn did not speak during a brief appearance at Letterkenny Courthouse.<\/p>\n

He was charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of selling it or otherwise supplying it to another, in contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2017-2019. The charge is contrary to section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and contrary to section 27 (3) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 as substituted by section 6 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1984.<\/p>\n

Quinn was also charged with being in possession of cocaine on the same date at the same location. The charge is contrary to section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977 and contrary to section 27 (1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977 as substituted by section 7 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1985.<\/p>\n

Quinn is also charged with the possession of cannabis at Conneyburrow Road, Lifford, on June 28, 2025.<\/p>\n

Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that directions are still outstanding from the DPP. Sergeant Doyle confirmed that a file has been sent to the office of the DPP.<\/a><\/p>\n

Quinn\u2019s solicitor, Mr Ciar\u00e1n Shiels, said that \u201cthis is a complex matter\u201d and added that it was \u201cconnected to other matters\u201d.<\/p>\n

The case was adjourned until July for directions.<\/p>\n

Last month, Quinn was arrested and held for five nights before being charged.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was lifted by detectives involved in a large investigation into alleged criminal activity in the north west.<\/p>\n

The operation, which involved over 100 Gardai, included searches in Donegal, Sligo and Monaghan, while the PSNI carried out simultaneous searches in Tyrone.<\/p>\n

During the operation, Gardai seized quantities of suspected cocaine, cannabis and tablets as well as cash and electronic devices.<\/p>\n

The operation was led by detectives from the Donegal Division, who were supported by the Garda National Drug and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Armed Support Unit (ASU), the Garda Dog Unit and detectives from Sligo and Monaghan.<\/p>\n

Searches were conducted at 15 residential addresses in East Donegal and Letterkenny.
