Perrie Edwards<\/a> has opened up about her \u201cdifficult\u201d relationship with Jesy Nelson<\/a> during their time in Little Mix<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The singer appeared on the\u00a0Great Company\u00a0podcast with Jamie Laing, where she spoke at length about Nelson\u2019s high-profile split from the girl group in 2020<\/a>. At the time, Nelson said being in the group had \u201ctaken a toll on my mental health\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, Edwards has said that Nelson was \u201cdifficult\u201d to work with, adding: \u201cSometimes you just won\u2019t win with people. I don\u2019t want to seem like a bitch, but what upsets me the most is when the other person doesn\u2019t take accountability. That boils my blood.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not blaming everything on you,\u201d she added, seemingly addressing Nelson. \u201cI\u2019m not saying she\u2019s this fucking monster, and everything was her fault, but take some accountability for your actions and realize that you were difficult, you had difficult moments. Granted, there was reasons for those moments, but you can only pick somebody up so many fucking times before you start losing track of your own sanity.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued to say she had extended support to Nelson, but added it was useless if \u201cthey can\u2019t accept the help and the love you\u2019re trying to show\u201d. \u201cI could have done better I suppose, but I thought what I was doing was enough,\u201d she added. \u201cI thought I tried everything. So then to sit there in interviews and be like \u2018I wasn\u2019t supported\u2019\u2026 you were,\u00a0 though.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if she ever wanted to rekindle their friendship, Edwards responded:\u00a0\u201cPart of me wanted to until the documentary, and then part of me withdrew again. If you upset me and hurt me in a way there\u2019s not really any going back, I can forgive, but I don\u2019t want you in my space\u201d. In an interview with\u00a0NME in 2024<\/a>, Edwards further spoke about the \u201cheartbreaking\u201d rift between her and Nelson.<\/p>\n

Edwards has revealed she and Nelson \u201cdon\u2019t talk, and haven\u2019t done for a long time,\u201d adding: \u201cIt\u2019s really sad, it\u2019s heartbreaking.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut sometimes these things happen and people decide they want to part ways, and that\u2019s absolutely fine,\u201d she continued. \u201cI would rather it went differently, but you can\u2019t control how things go.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Edwards went on to say that being in the award-winning girl group was \u201cthe happiest time of my life\u201d, adding: \u201cAll we did was laugh together, banter together, cry together.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so much fun. Yes we went through a lot in those 10 years, but we had each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since leaving Little Mix, Nelson announced she was pregnant with twins in January 2025<\/a>. Two months later, she shared she had to have an emergency procedure<\/a> after a warning that her babies \u201ccould die\u201d. The operation was a success<\/a>, and her daughters were born in May 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In January 2026, Nelson learned her twins had a rare muscular condition <\/a>called spinal muscle atrophy, adding that they will \u201cprobably never walk\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to the charity\u00a0SMA UK<\/a>, an estimated 47 babies were born with the condition in the UK in 2024, although\u00a0roughly one\u00a0in 40 people carry the gene that can cause the disease.<\/p>\n

In a social media post, Nelson explained that \u201cit does affect every muscle in the body, down to legs, arms, breathing, swallowing.<\/p>\n

She added that doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital informed her that the girls were \u201cprobably never going to be able to walk. They probably will never regain their neck strength, so they will be disabled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nelson went on to say that she wanted to share the diagnosis so that it might help others in a similar situation, and said that she believed her daughters would \u201cdefy all the odds\u201d and that they \u201cwill fight this\u201d.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Little Mix\u2019s Jesy Nelson has appealed for help after a car containing her daughters\u2019 medical equipment was stolen.<\/a><\/p>\n
