Most of the performances that their players put in were a fraction of what they put on display last term with some fans even thinking that they could miss out on Champions League football.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, there was a big enough gap between the Reds and Bournemouth to stop that from happening and they ended up qualifying.<\/p>\n
However, they only managed this due to the impressive form that a select few members of their squad were in.<\/p>\n
And, despite this, there was still some that Arne Slot<\/a> seemingly didn’t trust which led to plenty of ‘dissatisfaction’ among his ranks.<\/p>\n Rio Ngumoha was unhappy with the game time that Arne Slot was giving him<\/p>\n Rio Ngumoha<\/a> was one of the only bright sparks<\/a> to emerge from Liverpool’s 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n The 17-year-old offered the Reds something that they didn’t have from the rest of their team with his blistering pace and ability to take on opponents among his best assets.<\/p>\n Every time the youngster played he got fans standing on their feet and actually happy with the performance of their team.<\/p>\n But, despite this, as Anfield Watch mentioned back in January, Slot wanted to loan out Ngumoha and try to sign Bradley Barcola or Malick Fofana.<\/p>\n However, Richard Hughes refused this and forced the Dutchman to keep Ngumoha<\/a> in his plans.<\/p>\n And now, a fresh report from BBC Sport<\/a> has claimed that the young Englishman was unsatisfied with his playing time.<\/p>\n “Ultimately, the German was working with such a small and condensed body of work when it came to Ngumoha,” they wrote.<\/p>\n “The London-born forward made history as Liverpool’s youngest scorer when, aged 16, he scored the decisive goal in the 100th minute to beat Newcastle 3-2 \u2013 but made just 10 senior starts last season.<\/p>\n “It is understood there was some dissatisfaction over his level of game time under former Liverpool manager Arne Slot<\/a>.<\/p>\n “So had he played more, could he have forced his way into Tuchel’s plans?”<\/p>\n Arne Slot’s sacking may have saved Rio Ngumoha’s Liverpool career<\/p>\n Although Liverpool never wanted to move Ngumoha on<\/a>, if Slot had stayed at the helm, the 17-year-old could have forced his way out.<\/p>\n Recently, Bayern Munich have been linked with an interest in the attacker and, only when the Dutchman was sacked was the deal called off.<\/p>\n It’s clear that Ngumoha is one of England’s brightest prospects at the moment with Thomas Tuchel even handing him his England debut against New Zealand on 6 June.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, the “amazing<\/a>” youngster didn’t get called up to Tuchel’s 26-man squad for the World Cup, but, the experience alone will have done him wonders.<\/p>\n Of course, Liverpool still need to sign another couple of wingers to become competitive again but, if Ngumoha’s form from the 2025-26 campaign carries on into the 2026-27 season, he could easily play a starring role for Andoni Iraola<\/a>.<\/p>\n But, if Fenway Sports Group kept Slot around, they may have been forced to move him on which would’ve been an absolute travesty.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udd34 Shop the LFC 2025\/26 adidas home range<\/a><\/p>\n \ud83d\udc49\ud83c\udffb Michael Edwards is about to do it again, brilliant Liverpool transfer on the horizon<\/a><\/p>\n
