{"id":497376,"date":"2026-06-13T07:02:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T07:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/497376\/"},"modified":"2026-06-13T07:02:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-13T07:02:15","slug":"crosshaven-sets-sail-for-cork-week-2026-next-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/497376\/","title":{"rendered":"Crosshaven sets sail for Cork Week 2026 next month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">Crosshaven is gearing up to host Cork Week 2026, one of the most anticipated fixtures on the global sailing calendar, which will run from July 6-10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Hosted by the Royal Cork Yacht Club (RCYC) the biennial regatta, first hosted in 1978 will once again combine world-class competition with a unique coastal atmosphere, welcoming seasoned sailors and shoreside spectators alike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Cork Week 2026 is expected to attract more than 120 boats and 1,200 sailors from Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Beyond the racing, the event celebrates the spirit of Cork\u2019s maritime culture, with a vibrant programme of shoreside activity including live music, local cuisine, a Family Fun Day and Ladies Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">There are two major championships added to this year\u2019s racing programme \u2014 the Etchells European Championships 2026 and the Irish Cruiser Racing Association (ICRA) Championships \u2014 promising some exciting performances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Renowned race for international uniformed service personnel<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">This year\u2019s Beaufort Cup with entries from around the world, the renowned race for international uniformed service personnel encompasses a race around Fastnet Rock and back to Cork at the beginning of the week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Over the five days of racing each fleet will rotate through various race courses with each day bringing new challenges and opportunities for competitors, from longer coastal courses raced offshore, to \u2018Round-the-Cans\u2019 racing inside the harbour and multiple short races and Olympic courses laid in the open waters.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/5116887_1_articleinline_Z0A3013_1_.jpg\" alt=\"Cork Week event chair Ross Deasy,with his dog &quot;Rua&quot;. Picture: Robert Bateman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Recommended viewing points for the Harbour Race which takes place on Wednesday, July 8, include Camden and Church Bay at Crosshaven, the Haulbowline Island Amenity Park, Ringaskiddy and the promenade in Cobh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Denis Byrne, RCYC admiral Cork Week said it has long been recognised as a world-class regatta, and 2026 promises to raise the bar even further. \u201cWe are proud to welcome an outstanding fleet of sailors from Ireland and across the globe to Crosshaven, competing at the very highest level.
