Republic of Ireland booked their spot in the last eight of the BetVictor World Cup of Darts thanks to an 8-5 triumph against Poland in the opening match of the afternoon.<\/p>\n
They reached the mid-session interval with a commanding 5-2 lead before Poland rallied to draw level at 5-5.<\/p>\n
However, William O’Connor and Mickey Mansell regained their composure to reel off the next three legs, with the latter sealing the match with an 87 checkout.<\/p>\n
A buoyant O\u2019Connor, who averaged 102.57, said: “You see that smile, that sums up what I need to know.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019re into the next round and I\u2019ll tell you one thing, you\u2019ll never know how far we can go.”<\/p>\n
