It’s been a long wait for fans since Ludwig<\/a> season 1 debuted in September 2024, but finally the hit show is returning to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In advance of that, the BBC has now released some first-look footage from the new episodes, to tide fans over until the season actually arrives.<\/p>\n

The short teaser includes some quick clips from the upcoming episode, and sees John introducing himself in his new roles as a “puzzle consultant”. Dipo Ola’s DI Russell Carter then corrects him to tell him he’s a “crime scene consultant”, which John admits “does sound more like an actual job”.<\/p>\n

The teaser also shows glimpses of Anna Maxwell Martin’s return as Lucy, and you can watch it right here now.<\/p>\n

Last month, Martin teased what we can expect from season 2<\/a>, calling it “cracking” and “really, really good”.<\/p>\n

“I can’t tell you anything because my mind’s gone blank and I’ll probably be killed and I don’t know what I’m allowed to tell you!,” Martin continued.<\/p>\n

“But what I can say is it’s really, really good, I think it’s even better than season 1. I think we’ve sort of built on what we had, and we’ve made it even better.”<\/p>\n

The synopsis for Ludwig season 2 says: “Picking up from the end of series one, master puzzle-setter John \u2018Ludwig\u2019 Taylor (Mitchell) is now a Crime Scene Consultant, working alongside DCI Russell Carter (Ola), on \u2018impossible\u2019 crimes for the Cambridge Police Authority.<\/p>\n

“No longer having to masquerade as his brother, he\u2019s openly more \u2018Ludwig\u2019 than ever \u2013 brilliant at solving puzzles but hopeless at everything else.<\/p>\n

“But John\u2019s identical twin brother, James, is still missing, and now that he\u2019s an official employee of the station, John is forbidden from using any police resources to look for his brother or uncover exactly what he was investigating.<\/p>\n

“Of course, John won\u2019t stop and neither will Lucy (Martin), John\u2019s sister-in-law and wife of his missing brother James \u2013 a puzzle needs solving and a husband and father needs bringing home.<\/p>\n

“One masquerade may have ended, but a new one has just begun.”<\/p>\n

Dylan Hughes, Dorothy Atkinson, Ralph Ineson and Karl Pilkington will all be returning for the new episodes, while Mark Bonnar, Sian Clifford, Ben Ashenden and Rumi Sutton will be joining the cast.<\/p>\n

Two main cast members have also departed the show after season 1, with Gerran Howell<\/a> and Izuka Hoyle not expected to return.<\/p>\n

Ludwig season 2 will air later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Season 1 is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.<\/p>\n
