Uisce \u00c9ireann crews are working to restore water supply<\/p>\n

Uisce \u00c9ireann say its crews are working to restore supply after a major water outage left homes and businesses without water on Cork’s northside this afternoon.<\/p>\n

It’s understood that there are at least hundreds of properties across St Luke’s, Lower Glanmire Road, Farranree, Shanakiel, Sunday\u2019s Well, Shandon, Commons Road and the surrounding areas are impacted by the supply disruption.<\/p>\n

An Uisce Eireann spokesperson has said it is caused by a mechanical issue at the Harbour View Reservoir. It is expected that supply will be restored by approximately 6 pm today.<\/p>\n

Uisce \u00c9ireann\u2019s Niall O\u2019Riordan assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible. He said crews are on site working to restore water to affected customers. He said: \u201cWe understand the inconvenience of an unplanned disruption to supply and we thank customers for their support while our works continue to restore the supply.”<\/p>\n

Following restoration, it can take two to three hours for normal water pressure to return as the network recharges. Customers on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience longer delays.<\/p>\n

Some customers may also experience temporary discolouration of water as supply returns. Customers experiencing discoloured water are advised to run the cold kitchen tap for several minutes until it runs clear. If the water does not return to a clear colour, customers are advised not to drink it as a precaution and to contact Uisce \u00c9ireann.
