The funeral arrangements have been confirmed for a man who tragically lost his life after entering the River Liffey<\/a> while fleeing from attackers, as heartfelt tributes continue to pour in.<\/p>\n Thomas Griffin, originally from Ballyfermot, passed away at St James’s Hospital on Sunday, 31st May, after sustaining injuries near the Liffey<\/a> following an assault at the War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge, Dublin<\/a> on Saturday night, 30th May.<\/p>\n The 32-year-old had swum across the River Liffey after reportedly being attacked<\/a>.<\/p>\n Following his crossing to the banks near Chapelizod Road, he received emergency treatment from fire brigade crews.<\/p>\n He was subsequently transported to St James’s Hospital, where he sadly died, reports the Irish Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n Garda\u00ed are currently investigating whether his death resulted directly from his injuries or from another medical complication triggered by the incident.<\/p>\n According to his death notice on RIP.ie, Thomas died ‘suddenly’.<\/p>\n “Brother of the late James. Sadly missed by his loving mother Rose, father Gerard, loving brothers Ciar\u00e1n and Gerard, baby sister Hannahrose, loving sons Daylin and Cavalli-James, step-son Fletcher, niece Monroe, Cavalli’s mother Nicole, large circle of friends, extended family and neighbours,” the notice stated.<\/p>\n His funeral service is scheduled for Monday, 15th June at 12pm at the Church of The Most Holy Sacrament, Cherry Orchard, with burial to follow at Palmerstown Cemetery.<\/p>\n Touching tributes continue to be shared for Mr Griffin, with one mourner saying: “You were one of the good ones, loyal as ever to your pals Tommy the Tank, may you rest in eternal peace kid,” while another wrote: “RIP Thomas. Never forget the memories growing up. As loyal as they come. May you get the best bed in heaven,” and a further tribute read: “Hope Thomas is now at peace and reunited with his big bro James.<\/p>\n “Boys send strength to your ma and da and all your family and friends to get through this terrible time. Thomas you will always be remembered. Rest in eternal peace.”<\/p>\n A separate message stated: “Rip Thomas. Can’t believe you are gone. Our sound, great, good hearted friend. May you get the best bed in heaven. Give Jay a hug from us.<\/p>\n “Thinking of all your family at this upsetting time. Watch over them all until we meet again Thomas. Fly high with the angels”.<\/p>\n Heartbreakingly, this isn’t the first devastating tragedy to strike Thomas’ mourning family.<\/p>\n Thomas’s brother James Griffin (26) was stabbed to death at a club event in the Celtic Gladiators Private Members Club in Ballyfermot on November 16, 2014.<\/p>\n Want to see more of the stories you love from Dublin Live?
