Real Madrid have reached a shock \u2018verbal agreement\u2019 to sign Chelsea star Marc Cucurella after the World Cup, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.<\/p>\n
Cucurella<\/a> has been heavily linked with a departure from Chelsea after hitting out at the club\u2019s transfer plans earlier this year.<\/p>\n The 27-year-old broke ranks following Chelsea\u2019s exit from the Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in March.<\/p>\n \u201cWe lacked experience,\u201d Cucurella said<\/a>. \u201cFor a lot of players, it was the first time playing a match of that calibre, and we paid the price\u2026<\/p>\n \u201cResults like that are always hard to take. You are fighting and training every day only to realise, at the very end, that when games matter, we are still a bit away from the top level.<\/p>\n \u201cI understand this is part of the club\u2019s policy, and that they want to take this direction \u2013 signing young players and looking to the future. But, for all of us who are still here and want to win big things, moments like this make you feel discouraged.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have a good core of players. The foundations are there. But to fight for major trophies such as the Premier League or the Champions League, you need more. Signing young players only might complicate achieving those goals. Against PSG, we lacked players that had gone through situations like that.<\/p>\n \u201cYou need time as well, and I know the young players are the ones that will have the experience in the future. But you need to find the balance between both worlds.\u201d<\/p>\n Cucurella also admitted it \u201cwould be hard to turn down\u201d a move to Barcelona if his boyhood club made an offer, and reports have since claimed that Manchester City \u2013 now managed by former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca \u2013 and Atletico Madrid are also keen on the full-back.<\/p>\n
