US president Donald Trump has confirmed on his Truth Social platform that a deal between the US and Iran has been reached.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,\u201d Trump wrote. \u201cCongratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz<\/a>, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Let the oil flow!\u201d<\/p>\n Iran\u2019s \u200cdeputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi \u200cconfirmed to Iranian state \u200bTV that an immediate and permanent end \u200bto the war and \u2060military operations on \u200cvarious fronts, \u200cincluding \u200bLebanon, would take place \u2060starting on Sunday \u200bnight.<\/p>\n He said \u200bnegotiations for \u200ca final deal \u200bwould be held \u2060during \u2060a 60-day period, \u200badding that Tehran would take its own measures in the event of \u201cbreaches \u200cfrom the \u2060other side\u201d. <\/p>\n Pakistani \u200cprime minister Shehbaz \u200cSharif said earlier on Sunday evening that the United States<\/a> and \u200bIran<\/a> had \u201c\u200bdeclared the immediate \u2060and \u200bpermanent termination of \u200bmilitary operations \u200con all fronts, \u200bincluding in Lebanon<\/a>\u201d. <\/p>\n \u2060Sharif \u2060said in \u200ba post on X that the official signing ceremony would \u200cbe on \u2060June 19th in Switzerland. <\/p>\n The agreement was struck despite an Israeli strike on Lebanon on Sunday that \u200bdrew criticism from both Iran and Trump.<\/p>\n Earlier on Sunday, Iranian negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said \u200cIsrael\u2019s latest attack on the southern suburbs of \u200bBeirut, which Israel said targeted Iranian-backed Hizbullah militants, showed the United States lacked \u201cthe will and ability to fulfill your commitments\u201d \u2060in a post on X.<\/p>\n Iran\u2019s foreign ministry said \u2060it held the US responsible for the attack. Iran warned of a \u201cstrong response\u201d, and its top joint military command said the \u201cfinger [is] on the trigger\u201d ready to fire at the \u201cenemy\u2019s heart\u201d.<\/p>\n In a post on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, Trump said: \u201cThis morning\u2019s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n Israel had said it was not party to the planned US-Iran deal.
