{"id":500589,"date":"2026-06-15T10:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T10:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/500589\/"},"modified":"2026-06-15T10:58:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T10:58:09","slug":"tralee-woman-in-court-accused-of-stealing-over-e6700-worth-of-items","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/500589\/","title":{"rendered":"Tralee woman in court accused of stealing over \u20ac6,700 worth of items"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The District Court judge in Tralee has refused jurisdiction in the case of a Tralee woman charged with stealing over \u20ac6,700 worth of items from shops.<\/p>\n<p>26-year-old Kathleen McDonagh of 31 Forge Park, Oakpark, Tralee, appeared at a recent sitting of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.ie\/offices\/tralee-court-office\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tralee District Court<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She faces 13 charges, 12 of which relate to separate allegations of thefts from shops in Kerry, Cork, and Limerick.<\/p>\n<p>Ms McDonagh\u2019s 12 alleged thefts range from May 2025 to March this year.<\/p>\n<p>The first of these was at Euro Giant in the Horans Centre, where she allegedly stole items worth almost \u20ac150 on 4th May last year, and then stole cosmetics valued at \u20ac39 there again on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n<p>Ms McDonagh is charged with stealing clothes worth over \u20ac200 in Penneys, Killarney, on 7th July last year, and then bed sheets from Michael Guineys in Tralee worth almost \u20ac58 on 2nd September.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s alleged that a week later, she stole perfumes from CH Chemist in Tralee worth over \u20ac180.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s alleged Ms McDonagh stole clothes worth almost \u20ac1,100 from Sports Direct in Killarney last November, and then allegedly stole clothes worth almost \u20ac1,200 from the same shop last December.<\/p>\n<p>Ms McDonagh is alleged to have stolen groceries worth \u20ac300 from Tesco in Newcastle West on 1st March, before allegedly stealing cosmetics from Holland and Barrett on Patrick Street in Cork worth over \u20ac1,500 just three days later.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s further charged with stealing groceries worth \u20ac831 from Dunnes Stores on Childers Road in Limerick on 15th March this year, and stealing Apple air tags worth \u20ac833 on 31st March from Currys in Tralee.<\/p>\n<p>Ms McDonagh is also alleged to have stolen clothes worth over \u20ac300 from JD Sports in the Outlet Centre, Killarney, on 19th April, and she faces one public order charge at the Spar on Oakpark Road, Tralee, on 1st April this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiokerry.ie\/news\/judge-david-waters\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Judge David Waters<\/a> refused jurisdiction in the case, meaning it will be heard in a higher court with wider sentencing powers.<\/p>\n<p>At a previous court sitting, her solicitor P\u00e1draig O\u2019Connell said Ms McDonagh is a young lady with three young children, the youngest of whom is one year old.<\/p>\n<p>She was remanded on bail to 24th June for the book of evidence to be served.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The District Court judge in Tralee has refused jurisdiction in the case of a Tralee woman charged with&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":500590,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[61,60,43,214221],"class_list":["post-500589","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ireland","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-news","tag-tralee-woman"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/500589","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=500589"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/500589\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/500590"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=500589"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=500589"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=500589"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
