Robert Irwin<\/a> can’t contain his excitement after being announced as the host for this year’s Logie Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After a lot of speculation, the glitzy TV Week event confirmed last week that the 22-year-old would be taking over from comedian and presenter Sam Pang in hosting duties<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It’s a big deal for the wildlife warrior<\/a> as he will become the youngest person in Logies history<\/a> to score the gig.<\/p>\n

He said it’s been an incredible honour to be given the opportunity.<\/p>\n

“I grew up, as every Aussie does, watching the Logies,” he told Today. <\/p>\n

“My dad had a lot to do with the Logies\u2026 he had a couple of viral moments with a venomous snake, so I think it’s only fair.<\/p>\n

“I’m very excited\u2026 and I want to bring a little bit of that passion and Irwin energy to the Logies.”<\/p>\n

Channel 9 presenter Sarah Abo<\/a> asked Robert if he planned to mirror his dad and bring a few scary animals or insects to the evening, but the 22-year-old said he couldn’t say too much at this stage.<\/p>\n

“I don’t want to reveal anything too early, but it’s gonna be wild, for sure,” he said.<\/p>\n

He called his predecessor, Sam Pang, a “legend”, who hosted the Logies for three years and managed to keep each crowd laughing the whole night.<\/p>\n

While the event typically sees Aussie A-listers dress up in their best tuxedos, evening gowns, and spicy attire, Robert said he might try to put a spin on the dress code.<\/p>\n

“I gotta work in khaki somehow\u2026maybe a khaki tuxedo,” he said.<\/p>\n

TV WEEK’s Editorial Director Amber Giles said Robert was a no-brainer to host the annual event as he’s the “hottest name” on the small screen at the moment.<\/p>\n

He’s already been hugely popular as the co-host on I’m A Celebrity\u2026Get Me Out Of Here, but his stardom reached new heights late last year when he won the American version of Dancing With The Stars.<\/p>\n

Robert’s been grabbing global headlines ever since and is even hosting a spin-off of the US program that will premiere on Hulu next month.<\/p>\n

“To have him home hosting Australian TV’s biggest night is extremely exciting,” she added.<\/p>\n

“We can’t wait to see what he brings to the stage in August.”<\/p>\n

Robert is no stranger to the Logies either, after being nominated in 2024 for the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter and the Gold Logie Award.<\/p>\n

The Logies will be held on August 16 at The Star in Sydney.<\/p>\n
