Bruce Springsteen<\/a> has said that he wants to find some \u201ccommon ground\u201d with fans who have walked away from him due to his political stance.<\/p>\n

The music icon has been largely outspoken against Donald Trump<\/a> over the years, and frequently used his time both on and off the stage to call out the President and his administration.<\/p>\n

Heated disputes between the two of them include The Boss calling for Trump to be impeached<\/a> and \u201cconsigned to the trash heap of history\u201d, as well as describing the President as \u201ccorrupt, incompetent, and treasonous\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He also penned the politically-charged song \u2018Streets Of Minneapolis\u2019<\/a> following ICE agents killing two civilians in Minnesota, called Trump a \u201cPresident who can\u2019t handle the truth\u201d<\/a> on stage, endorsed the No Kings movement<\/a> against him, and slammed the POTUS\u2019 so-called \u201canti-weaponisation fund\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump has hit back too, branding The Boss a \u201cpushy, obnoxious JERK\u201d, as well as a \u201cdried out \u2018prune\u2019 of a rocker\u201d<\/a>, and the White House slammed Springsteen\u2019s tour before it had even started<\/a> \u2013 writing that the singer has a \u201csevere case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his brain\u201d.<\/p>\n

Now, at the Tribeca Film Festival, Springsteen has acknowledged how some of his fans have been alienated by his outspoken comments against Trump, and said that he hopes to find some \u201ccommon ground\u201d with them going forward.<\/p>\n

After being presented with the 2026 Harry Belafonte Voices for Social Justice Award by Bono<\/a>, the U2<\/a> singer asked if The Boss ever feels \u201ctorn\u201d over the fact that some previous fans will no longer see him play live due to the political stance.<\/p>\n

Responding, Springsteen said: \u201cYou have to do two things. You make your stand, and you follow your beliefs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to have the faith in them [beliefs] that they will be explicable and understandable by your fellow citizens, and you have to believe that America is an argument, and it\u2019s a compromise constantly, and then finding some sort of common ground is a possibility,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t even really consider myself an activist. I feel like I\u2019m, at best, a concerned citizen,\u201d Springsteen shared. \u201cI sing my songs, I say a few things and wish for the best, you know, help folks out a little bit here and a little bit there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019re so many people that do so much more than I do,\u201d he added, saying that Bono was much \u201cmore of an activist\u201d than he is.<\/p>\n

Also on the night, Springsteen apologised to Bono for refusing to license \u2018Girls in Their Summer Clothes\u2019 for an advert for the clothing brand GAP in partnership with Bono\u2019s AIDS foundation<\/a> (RED).<\/p>\n
