The Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee is set to play the role of Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm, who is described as \u201ca trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil.\u201d Warner Bros. will release \u201cThe Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum\u201d worldwide on December 17, 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe casting also marks Taylor-Joy\u2019s third role in one of Warner Bros.\u2019 marquee franchises following \u201cFuriosa\u201d (the prequel to \u201cMad Max: Fury Road\u201d) and the \u201cDune\u201d movies. The finale of Denis Villeneuve\u2019s acclaimed trilogy, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/dune-3-trailer-timothee-chalamet-zendaya-robert-pattinson-1236690715\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u201cDune: Part Three,\u201d<\/a> will be released on Dec. 18. Taylor-Joy will next be seen in Apple TV+\u2019s \u201cLucky,\u201d which she also executive produces. She is repped by CAA, The Way Management, Apex PR, and Felker Toczek Suddleson McGinnis Ryan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOver two decades, the six theatrical \u201cLord of the Rings\u201d and \u201cThe Hobbit\u201d films earned nearly $6 billion worldwide. \u201cThe Hunt for Gollum\u201d aims to continue that storied cinema legacy. The movie reunited the Oscar-winning creative team, with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Zane Weiner producing. Ken Kamins, Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish of The Imaginarium are executive producers. The screenplay is written by Walsh and Boyens, with Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe next film in the fantasy franchise, \u201cThe Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past,\u201d will be written by Philippa Boyens, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/lord-of-the-rings-movie-stephen-colbert-warner-bros-1236698684\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Stephen Colbert <\/a>and Peter McGee.
