{"id":501313,"date":"2026-06-15T20:37:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T20:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/501313\/"},"modified":"2026-06-15T20:37:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T20:37:13","slug":"peter-aiken-says-zach-bryan-gigs-at-pairc-will-put-cork-on-concert-map","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/501313\/","title":{"rendered":"Peter Aiken says Zach Bryan gigs at P\u00e1irc will put Cork on concert map"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">Concert promoter Peter Aiken says country superstar Zach Bryan couldn\u2019t find Cork on a map despite his two gigs planned on Leeside later this month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cHe didn\u2019t know where Cork was, to be honest,\u201d Aiken said, before sharing how the Oklahoma singer\u2019s P\u00e1irc U\u00ed Chaoimh gigs will put the Rebel County on the radar of other high-profile artists.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/5119371_1_articleinlinemobile_GettyImages-2212042220_1_.jpg\" alt=\"Zach Bryan will play Pairc Ui Chaoimh next Saturday and Sunday.\" title=\"Zach Bryan will play Pairc Ui Chaoimh next Saturday and Sunday.\" class=\"card-img\"\/>Zach Bryan will play Pairc Ui Chaoimh next Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cIt\u2019s good because people will see somebody as big as Zach Bryan, when they see his tour dates and he\u2019s doing Cork that invariably gets people asking the question: what else is coming?\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">He was speaking ahead of the first night last Wednesday of\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.echolive.ie\/corknews\/arid-41847018.html\">Live at the Marquee<\/a>, which is marking 21 years in Cork \u2014 and its third year at its new venue at the former Tedcastle\u2019s Yard, just over the road from where it all began in 2005.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Realistic about Marquee festival<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Aiken is realistic, knowing it\u2019s not a \u201cforever home\u201d for the festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cWe\u2019ve moved across the road, and you can see the building going on over there [at the old site]. Eventually, someone\u2019s going to build here,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n            \u201cThat\u2019ll be the challenge, but Cork City Council have always made it very clear that they\u2019ll always do their best to get this site.\u201d\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">He said he still hopes the long-awaited event centre gets off the ground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\n            \u201cIt just seems scandalous that a city like Cork doesn\u2019t have a proper event centre. We\u2019re doing 21 shows in six weeks. What could it do all year round?\u201d\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">For over two decades, the distinctive blue-and-yellow marquee tent hosted acts like Elton John and Lady Gaga \u2014 but it\u2019s been replaced by a red-and-blue version.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cThe other tent was just battered, it\u2019s been all around the world.
