Emmerdale’s Lewis Barton is left fearing for his life next week, as he’s held to ransom by a crazed kidnapper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After receiving a sinister text from Lewis’s abductor, Ross Barton is hellbent on freeing his brother \u2013 but there’s another shock when Dr Liam Cavanagh finally reveals that Kev is Lewis’s biological father!<\/p>\n

As Ross vows to find Kev, will the former jailbird agree to help, or will he leave Lewis in the lurch?<\/p>\n

“Lewis’s kidnapper is a woman called Kylie, who tells Ross that Kev needs to return ‘Penny’ to her \u2013 or else,” explains our Emmerdale spy.<\/p>\n

“Liam can see how serious Kylie is about ‘Penny’, so he convinces Claudette to tell him where Kev is. The village doc and Ross soon find Kev selling cakes out of a van, but his attitude is nowhere near as sweet as the lemon drizzle he’s serving up\u2026”<\/p>\n

Ross is so irked by Kev’s manner that the two men end up in a scuffle. Eventually, Kev addresses the situation by revealing to Ross that ‘Penny’ is a diamond he sold to a pawn shop. Ross demands that he buy it back for Lewis’s sake, but it turns out that Kev is lying through his teeth\u2026<\/p>\n

“We soon see that Kev is actually wearing ‘Penny’ around his neck,” reveals our source. “While alone following the chaos with Liam and Ross, Kev looks down at the diamond. Why on earth would he pretend not to have it when he knows that Lewis is in danger? Time will tell\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, petrified Lewis remains trapped in Kylie’s bedroom, where he asks his captor whether she plans to murder him! Kylie responds in a mysterious tone, which understandably leaves Lewis feeling more panicked than ever\u2026<\/p>\n

Back at home, Ross and Liam are still deeply worried for Lewis, and even more so when Ross receives a threatening message from Kylie that involves scalpels. Afterwards, Kylie contacts Kev to insist that he hand over ‘Penny’ by the end of the day. <\/p>\n

\u201cKylie isn’t messing about,” continues our source. “While dishing out the ultimatum to Kev, she also makes sure to mention that she spent eight years in Holloway Prison. That surely doesn’t bode well for Lewis!”<\/p>\n

Backed into a corner, Kev changes his story and tells Liam and Ross that he has found the diamond after all and bought it back. Unconvinced, Ross knocks Kev out cold, then tells Liam that he plans to use the ex-con as an insurance policy\u2026<\/p>\n

As Ross meets up with Kylie, can he secure Lewis’s safety? Or will Kev’s unpredictable nature wreck his son’s chances of being freed? <\/p>\n

Emmerdale bosses announced Chris Coghill’s return to the role of Kev<\/a> in April.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m really pleased to be returning to Emmerdale,” Coghill said at the time. “I had a brilliant time last year. Kev is a complex character that I love playing. He has psychopathic tendencies, but also an energy and vulnerability that I think makes him pretty unique.”<\/p>\n

Show producer Laura Shaw added: “Both Chris and the character of Kev made a massive impact on the show last year, so Chris is most definitely back by popular demand.<\/p>\n

“With Kev’s son, Lewis, in the village still unaware of who his father is, it’s safe to say that there\u2019s a lot of unfinished business and drama ahead.”<\/p>\n
