{"id":501670,"date":"2026-06-16T01:29:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T01:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/501670\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T01:29:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T01:29:14","slug":"timothy-wins-road-race-gold-in-irelands-seven-medal-euros-haul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/501670\/","title":{"rendered":"Timothy wins road race gold in Ireland&#8217;s seven-medal Euros haul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-207734\" width=\"auto\" height=\"733\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 2025\/1350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/timothy-wins-road-race-gold-in-ireland-039-s-seven-medal-euros-haul.jpg\"   fetchpriority=\"high\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p> Richael Timothy of Team Ireland was clearly delighted with her European Championships gold medal win in Italy (Photo: ParaCiclismoManiago)<\/p>\n<p>Richael Timothy has added road race gold the Irish paracycling national team&#8217;s seven-medal haul from the UEC Paracycling European Road Championships in Maniago and Montereale Valcellina, Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Paralympian Timothy, who won two bronze medals on the track at the Worlds in 2023, proved best in the four-up sprint for the medals in the women&#8217;s C3 road race on Sunday in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>On the slightly uphill sprint, over cobbles, Timothy saw off Dutch rider Aniek van den Aarssen and France&#8217;s Tifany Huot Marchand in the final gallop.<\/p>\n<p>It was Timothy\u2019s second medal of the championships having picked bronze in the women\u2019s C3 Time Trial (TT).<\/p>\n<p>However, while she has a growing collection of bronzes, her European&#8217;s gold medal win was the first major championship victory of her career, making it a huge day for her.<\/p>\n<p>Team Ireland&#8217;s most successful paracycling pairing Katie-George Dunlevy piloted by Linda Kelly &#8211; multiple world and Paralympic champions &#8211; added another gold to their collection in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>They won the WB TT on Friday in the same race that new Irish tandem pairing and Europeans debutants, Sinead Greenan and pilot Alice Sharpe, placed 4th.<\/p>\n<p>    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stickybottle.com\/races-results\/video-dunwoody-takes-first-u23-giro-result-climbs-now-loom-207722\" aria-label=\"Video - Dunwoody takes first U23 Giro result, climbs now loom\" class=\"block flex-shrink-0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/video-dunwoody-takes-first-u23-giro-result-climbs-now-loom.jpg\" class=\"max-w-full w-full w-full h-auto !my-0\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" alt=\"Video - Dunwoody takes first U23 Giro result, climbs now loom\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stickybottle.com\/races-results\/paul-kennedy-45-has-won-three-more-races-in-six-days-207712\" aria-label=\"Paul Kennedy (45) has won three more races (in six days)\" class=\"block flex-shrink-0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/paul-kennedy-45-has-won-three-more-races-in-six-days.jpg\" class=\"max-w-full w-full w-full h-auto !my-0\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" alt=\"Paul Kennedy (45) has won three more races (in six days)\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>And in the WB road race, Greenan and Sharpe laid down a marker &#8211; suggesting they could be the next prolific tandem pairing for Team Ireland &#8211; when they won silver.
