A garda investigation has been launched in Waterford following the discovery of a woman\u2019s body at a house.<\/p>\n
Shortly after 2pm on Monday, garda\u00ed found the woman, believed to be in her 80s, at a residence in the rural area of Ardsallagh near Youghal Bridge.<\/p>\n
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, which is currently preserved for a forensic examination.<\/p>\n
A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation, and an incident room has been established at Dungarvan garda station.<\/p>\n
A Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has also been appointed to support the family of the deceased woman.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na told the Irish Examiner that the coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau have also been requested to assist with the investigation.<\/p>\n
A post-mortem examination will be arranged, and the results will assist investigating garda\u00ed in determining the course of their inquiries.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses, in particular those who were in the Ardsallagh or Youghal Bridge areas in recent days.<\/p>\n
\u201cRoad users with camera footage, including dashcam recordings from the area, are also urged to come forward,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
