Johnny Marr<\/a> has announced his fifth solo album \u2018The Age Of Everything\u2019 \u2013 listen to new single \u2018Spin\u2019 below.<\/p>\n

The former Smiths<\/a> guitarist is due to release the 10-track record on October 2 via BMG, following on from 2022\u2019s \u2018Fever Dreams Pts 1\u20134\u2019<\/a>. You can pre-order\/pre-save it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the record that\u2019s been the most cathartic. The title came to me early in the process and became an inescapable idea. It seemed to sum up the way I think a lot of people are feeling,\u201d Marr explained in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all encompassing, but it\u2019s not necessarily a negative statement. There\u2019s a sense of overwhelm in the culture brought about by technology, but looking at it with a different light, there could also be a sense of possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018The Age Of Everything\u2019 was written in London and recorded in Manchester, after the musician developed the material live while on tour across the east coast of North America.<\/p>\n

Per a press release, the LP \u201ccaptures the energy and tensions\u201d of Marr\u2019s home city, and is described as \u201csharp, fast and dynamic, filled with ideas and possibilities\u201d.<\/p>\n

Marr has previewed lead single \u2018Spin\u2019 at numerous live shows in 2025 and 2026, according to Setlist.FM<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The soaring and urgent track serves as an emotionally-charged opening statement for \u2018The Age Of Everything\u2019. It sees Marr tap into the collective consciousness of these current times, singing: \u201cThere\u2019s too much coming into my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year, Marr will play the biggest live shows of his solo career, taking place at Manchester\u2019s Castlefield Bowl<\/a> (July 9) and London\u2019s OVO Arena Wembley<\/a> (October 24). He\u2019ll also perform at Dublin\u2019s Iveagh Gardens next month, and make numerous stops across Europe. Find any remaining tickets here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marr released a \u2018best-of\u2019 compilation in 2023<\/a>, featuring a new song called \u2018Somewhere\u2019, and shared a new live album,\u00a0\u2018Look Out Live!\u2019<\/a>, in 2025.<\/p>\n

More recently, he contributed to\u00a0Gorillaz<\/a>\u2018 latest record, \u2018The Mountain\u2019<\/a>, and\u00a0made an appearance with the band in London last September<\/a>. Marr has been announced as a special guest for the cartoon band\u2019s massive Tottenham Hotspur Stadium concert<\/a> in the capital this Saturday (June 20).<\/p>\n
