Today we\u2019re announcing that Threads has reached 500 million monthly active users, a milestone that reflects people\u2019s desire for a public space built around conversation. This growth is driven by communities<\/a> \u2014 groups of people showing up around the conversations they care about, from books to basketball to parenting to music. Those communities built Threads into what it is and now, we\u2019re adding new tools to help them become even more meaningful and dynamic.<\/p>\n

New Features for Communities on Threads<\/p>\n

Our communities feature has been one of the fastest-growing features on Threads since it launched last year. Today, we\u2019re graduating communities out of beta and delivering some of the most-requested features as we invest in the people and communities that got us here:\u00a0<\/p>\n

Communities Hub: We\u2019re making it easier to find and switch between communities by adding them to the main menu to the left of your feed.
\nCommunity Icons: Communities now have their own distinct visual identities, making them easier to spot and recognize across Threads.
\nCommunity Progress: You can now see when a topic is close to becoming a community\u00a0 \u2014 and what you can do to help it get there.
\nCommunity Champions: We\u2019re awarding community champion<\/a> status to more people across communities.
\nLocal Communities: We\u2019re making communities local, starting with native-language tags in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And in the coming weeks, we\u2019ll be expanding Live Chats to more communities \u2014 with co-hosting and the ability to quote moments to your feed.<\/p>\n

Giving You Control Over the Conversations You See<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, we introduced Dear Algo<\/a>, which lets you tell the Threads algorithm what you want to see more or less of. Now, based on your feedback, we\u2019re introducing Your Algo, a complement to Dear Algo that lets you privately control what conversations you see in feed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With Your Algo, you can tell Threads you want to see more or less of certain topics and choose how long the request lasts: one, three, or seven days. Only you will be able to see your requests, and you can manage both Dear Algo and Your Algo in one unified hub.<\/p>\n

Your Algo is rolling out today in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s updates are just the start. We\u2019ll keep updating Threads based on your feedback to make sure it\u2019s the best place to find your community and take part in the conversations that matter to you.\u00a0<\/p>\n
