{"id":502638,"date":"2026-06-16T14:42:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T14:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/502638\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T14:42:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T14:42:09","slug":"teenager-who-died-in-scrambler-collision-suffered-multiple-traumatic-injuries-inquest-hears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/502638\/","title":{"rendered":"Teenager who died in scrambler collision suffered multiple traumatic injuries, inquest hears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Dublin teenager who died following a collision between his scrambler motorbike and a car near his home just over a year ago suffered multiple traumatic injuries, an inquest has heard.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Monks (18), a father of one from Rossfield Drive, Tallaght, sustained fatal injuries in the incident, which occurred at around 8pm on April 20th, 2025, on Citywest Avenue, Dublin 24.<\/p>\n<p>The injured youth was rushed by ambulance to Tallaght University Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.<\/p>\n<p>The opening of an inquest into Monks\u2019 death at Dublin District Coroner\u2019s Court on Tuesday heard the deceased\u2019s mother, Donna, formally identify her son\u2019s body to garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Monks wiped tears from her eyes as a court registrar read her statement over how garda\u00ed called to her home to inform her that Jason had been involved in an accident and she needed to go to Tallaght Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>She recalled telling garda\u00ed that they should have known his identity as he carried his PPS card on his mobile phone.<\/p>\n<p>In a tribute posted on social media following her son\u2019s death, Monks said her heart was \u201cshattered into a million bits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She recalled how there was \u201cnothing in this world he wouldn\u2019t do for his mammy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a post on Facebook, Ms Monks pleaded that news of the fatal incident would be \u201ca big bad dream.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Monks also wrote: \u201cMy beautiful baby boy. How is my life ever going to be the same ever again? 18 years of loving you, the best 18 years of my life.
