Those against the proposed location for a new hospital were out in protest on Tuesday, with more than 11,000 people already signing a petition calling for plans to be rejected.<\/a><\/p>\nThe location is part of the land currently occupied by Pine Ridge Golf Club, which is owned by a local charity. Lance McCarthy, Chief Executive of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We’ve looked at 18 sites and this has come out as the only viable option within a five-mile radius.<\/p>\n
“Obviously we will work woth residents and the landowners to undertake a detailed traffic analysis and envrironmental surveys that will be required for us to complete our business case process.”<\/p>\n
Under proposals, the new hospital would provide emergency, inpatient and maternity care.<\/p>\n
Outpatient, diagnositc and community appointments would continue to be provided from the current hospital site, where the buildings are unaffected by RAAC. <\/p>\n
The trust says that this will help to keep travel disruption to a minimum and reduce pressure on local roads.<\/p>\n
Mr McCarthy added: \u201cThis is about creating a hospital that local people can rely on – not just today, but for generations to come.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cA new Frimley Park Hospital will mean safer buildings, modern facilities and an environment that helps our staff deliver the very best care.”<\/p>\n
Frimley Health has not purchased the land and says no final decisions have been made. <\/p>\n
It would need the approval of the Department of Health and Social Care before any land was bought.<\/p>\n
A new hospital would be funded by the government’s New Hospital Programme and is part of Wave One of the initiative due to presence of RAAC.<\/p>\n
The trust hopes to start building between 2028 and 2029, with a planning application for a new hospital set to be submitted in autumn 2027.<\/p>\n
