\n\tShrek, Fiona and Donkey are back for a new fantastical adventure in the first trailer for next year\u2019s \u201cShrek 5<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal released the \u201cShrek 5\u201d trailer Tuesday, more than a year ahead of its release on June 30, 2027. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz all return as the voices of Shrek, Donkey and Fiona. They\u2019re joined by Zendaya, \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d comedian Marcello Hernandez and Skylar Gisondo (\u201cSuperman,\u201d \u201cFocker-in-Law\u201d) as Shrek and Fiona\u2019s children, Felicia, Fergus and Farkle.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer starts out with a storybook recapping the original tale of Shrek, Fiona and Donkey from their original 2001 movie. Donkey interrupts the narration and says it\u2019s time for a makeover, which may explain the slightly different animation style for the fairytale creatures. The pals travel once again through the magical land of Far, Far Away and encounter a giant, law enforcement and a creepy snowman that\u2019s a parody of Olaf from \u201cFrozen\u201d \u2014 \u201cyou wanna date a snowman?\u201d he asks from a creepy alleyway. They also reunite with Gingy, who\u2019s affixed two gumdrop buttons to his rear end, proclaiming that he\u2019s \u201ccaked up like a friggin\u2019 bakery.\u201d The trailer ends with Shrek, Fiona, their kids and Donkey stuck in a jail cell as Donkey croons \u201cBaby Come Back\u201d and \u201cRoxanne,\u201d much to Shrek\u2019s frustration.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShrek 5\u201d marks the franchise\u2019s first installment in 17 years, since \u201cShrek Forever After\u201d in 2010. Since then, there have been two spinoffs, 2011\u2019s \u201cPuss in Boots\u201d and its 2022 sequel \u201cPuss in Boots: The Last Wish.\u201d<\/p>\n
