Jo Frost<\/a> is calling out a troubling pattern she sees in families every day.<\/p>\n

The Supernanny star<\/a>, 55, took to Facebook<\/a> on Monday, June 15, to deliver a frank wake-up call about a growing problem in modern parenting.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to say something that might make you uncomfortable, so sit tight,\u201d the parenting expert said in the video. \u201cWe are slowly disabling our children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frost explained that her daily work with families has revealed a deeply concerning trend: kids who are fully capable of learning, but simply aren\u2019t being taught.<\/p>\n

According to Frost, the problem starts early and compounds over time. \u201cWe\u2019re keeping children in strollers who should be walking, climbing, and building strength,\u201d she said. She also noted that 4-year-olds are still relying on pacifiers \u201cwhen they were only ever meant to be a short-term aid.\u201d<\/p>\n

The issues don\u2019t stop in toddlerhood. Frost rattled off a string of age-specific failures she\u2019s observed: \u201cSeven-year-olds who can\u2019t brush their teeth properly without an electric toothbrush. Eight-year-olds who can\u2019t sit at a table and use a knife and fork. Nine-year-olds who don\u2019t understand bathroom hygiene.\u201d<\/p>\n

The question she keeps returning to, she said, is a simple one: \u201cWhen did we stop teaching these life skills?\u201d<\/p>\n

Rather than pointing fingers, Frost urged parents to shift their mindset \u2014 and their habits. \u201cI understand modern life is busy, but this isn\u2019t about time; it\u2019s about intention,\u201d she said. \u201cBecause every time we step in and do it for them or avoid teaching because it\u2019s slower, messier, or inconvenient, we take away an opportunity for them to become capable, and children want to feel capable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her solution is straightforward: go back to basics. Teach kids to ride a bike \u2014 with help first, then without. Phase out pacifiers when the time is right. Practice table manners with patience and repetition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe guide, we repeat, we expect,\u201d she said. \u201cNot perfectly, consistently. Because independence isn\u2019t something that just happens instantaneously. It\u2019s taught, parents, and if we don\u2019t teach it, we can\u2019t be surprised when it\u2019s missing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The video struck a nerve, prompting an outpouring of support in the comments section. \u201cIt\u2019s called life skills and should be taught at home from as soon as they are a toddler,\u201d one commenter wrote.<\/p>\n

Another suggested that screen time is to blame<\/a>, commenting, \u201cWhen parents choose to be on their phone instead of parenting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others echoed Frost\u2019s call for a return to traditional parenting methods, with one person writing, \u201cBack to basics will teach independence.\u201d<\/p>\n
