Horse Sport Ireland has announced that one individual will represent Ireland at the 2026 European Junior Riders Championships in Olomouc (CZE).

The announcement of individual representation and no full team comes in a week of much commotion over Irish team selection. Yesterday Dressage Ireland announced the resignation of the Dressage Ireland chair and appointment of a new chair on the same day.

Maeve Deverell has been selected.

It will be a second European Championship appearance for the Offaly teenager, who competed in the Children on Horses European Championship for Ireland in 2023 with homebred 13-year-old Annaharvey Dunowen (ISH).

She will again partner Annaharvey Dunowen, bred in Tullamore, Co. Offaly by her grandfather Henry, having impressed this season with her consistent results, highlighted by a third-place finish at Hartpury.

Horse Sport Ireland High Performance Dressage Manager, Anne Marie Dunphy, said: “I’m very pleased that Maeve will represent us in Olomouc. During the selection period they have shown consistent results including a podium finish at Hartpury CDI and we look forward to seeing them taking their place at the championships.

Photo © Astrid Appels

Related Links
