{"id":504328,"date":"2026-06-17T12:34:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T12:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/504328\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T12:34:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T12:34:14","slug":"irish-man-very-wary-after-sydney-shark-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/504328\/","title":{"rendered":"Irish man &#8216;very wary&#8217; after Sydney shark attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sydney&#8217;s Coogee Beach has reopened under the watchful eyes of lifeguards and drone surveillance, after a shark attack over the weekend left a woman critically injured and prompted a safety review at Australia&#8217;s popular shorelines.<\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-old victim was swimming about 30 metres from the shore on Saturday morning when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/news\/world\/2026\/0613\/1578231-australia-shark-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">she was bitten by a 3-4m shark<\/a>, sustaining serious injuries to her arms and lower left leg.<\/p>\n<p>She remains in hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>Coogee, south of iconic Bondi Beach, hosts one of the largest Irish populations in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Some locals, like Irish man Ryan Brady, have been hesitant to go back into the water.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m very wary.
