The Claire Byrne Show<\/a>, Paul Healy of the Irish Mirror said officials think he will be flown back in mid-July.\u00a0<\/p>\n\u201cI stress that that is a tentative date,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, anything can happen, things do change.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I’m told that Garda\u00ed are informed that they may be able to finally extradite Mr Kinahan from the United Arab Emirates around that date.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Kinahan\u2019s senior associate, Se\u00e1n McGovern, fought his extradition for several months.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, he was sentenced to 24 years behind bars by the Special Criminal Court.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMy sources are telling me that the authorities in Dubai really have run out of patience with the Kinahans,\u201d Mr Healy said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s a bad look for them to be in their country and they really don’t want to have to deal with this for any longer than needs be.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, I’m told that Mr Kinahan has run out of road and Garda\u00ed fully expect to have him extradited within the next month or so.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Currently, Kinahan is understood to be incarcerated in Dubai\u2019s notorious Al Awir Central, which Mr Healy said has a reputation for its \u201chellish conditions\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Kinahan will likely have had his head shaved on arrival and inmates routinely complain of violence and overcrowding.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cwe’re not privy to everything that’s going on in the UAE,\u201d Mr Healy said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don’t know about the court’s process – it’s notoriously secretive.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, we don’t know really whether Mr Kinahan is exhausting all avenues legally or whether he’s actually willingly surrendering himself up to the authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n
