Cork manager Ben O\u2019Connor has confirmed that captain Darragh Fitzgibbon is available for Sunday\u2019s All-Ireland SHC quarter-final with Offaly while Robbie O\u2019Flynn is back to fitness too.<\/p>\n
Fitzgibbon missed the last Munster round-robin game, the win over Clare, and the one-point final defeat to Limerick following an appendectomy while O\u2019Flynn had been sidelined with a hamstring problem. Declan Dalton, who was ruled out of the Limerick game with a calf strain, is also close to recovery.<\/p>\n
Though Tommy O\u2019Connell (broken thumb) and Tim O\u2019Mahony (dead leg) are out for the clash with the Faithful County at FBD Semple Stadium on Sunday (3.30pm), O\u2019Connor welcomes the increase in options ahead of the Cork team being named on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cDarragh’s back and Robbie’s back,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
\u201cRobbie got a full week last week and he\u2019s back in; Deccie didn\u2019t train last week but he did a bit on Tuesday night. It might come a bit early for him, we\u2019ll have to wait and see Thursday night at training.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn that front, it isn\u2019t bad \u2013 I know we\u2019ve the two boys out but we\u2019ve a couple back too..\u201d As to the extent that Fitzgibbon will feature, O\u2019Connor will wait and see.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a bit of a game last Saturday in training \u2013 it was very short but he got a bit of a blow-out in that and the same on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s amazing when you see how match fitness leaves fellas. He had a lot of work done with the boys, the strength and conditioning lads, but still, it\u2019s contact and he didn\u2019t have contact for three weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cDarragh’s good to go and it\u2019s just to get as much as you can out without risking injury as well.<\/p>\n
