The Snuts<\/a> have dropped the rejoicing single \u2018Defibrillator\u2019, and announced new album \u2018Joy In Short Moments\u2019.<\/p>\n

The new record from the Scottish indie stars will be their fourth, and is set for release on October 23 via Happy Artist Records in partnership with Virgin Music Group. Visit here<\/a> to pre-order.<\/p>\n

To mark the new announcement Jack Cochrane and co. have shared lead single \u2018Defibrillator\u2019 \u2013 a lively, drum-filled anthem that is perfect for the summer. Lyrically, it takes on themes of connection and celebration \u2013 \u201copting to show up for the people around you, stop getting caught up in ego, and finding moments of joy by being present with those around you\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to write a track that detailed a conscious decision to live and love more,\u201d the frontman said, adding that it took two years of living to find the inspiration for the track.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It\u2019s a call] to take life less seriously and dilute ego as often as possible. \u2018Defibrillator\u2019 is a song that celebrates the collective and trivialises the sludgy worries of being alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like the lead track, \u2018Joy In Short Moments\u2019 also sees the band strip things back and show greater appreciation for the simpler things.<\/p>\n

While their previous albums were made in a sense of perpetual motion, this time around inspiration arose after the singer took a step back from touring, became a father, and began acknowledging deep rooted questions that his constant touring schedule had previously kept underlying.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter three records of constant motion, I felt pulled back towards real life,\u201d Cochrane said. \u201cSuccess, failure, parenthood and loss all found their way into these songs. \u2018Joy in Short Moments\u2019 is the sound of reconnecting with what matters and learning to find meaning in the small things whilst navigating the questions; Who am I? Where should I be? Where am I going? What makes it all worthwhile?\u201d<\/p>\n

The Snuts will be playing at TRNSMT<\/a> on Saturday (June 20), and heading back out on tour later this autumn. Those headline tour dates are set to be announced tomorrow (Friday June 19).<\/p>\n

At the start of the year the Scottish band dropped the single \u2018Summer Rain\u2019 as their first new material since 2024<\/a>, and it tackled themes including postnatal depression and \u201cfear of the future\u201d. That song will feature on the new record.<\/p>\n

They later played a handful of UK headline shows in March, and confirmed that they would be opening for Kings Of Leon at two dates on their upcoming UK and Ireland tour<\/a> over the summer.<\/p>\n

Other live shows for this summer include festival slots at Y Not 2026<\/a>, and the 20th anniversary of Kendall Calling<\/a>.<\/p>\n
