{"id":506406,"date":"2026-06-18T16:50:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T16:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/506406\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T16:50:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T16:50:09","slug":"sergei-loznitsa-clip-on-two-prosecutors-set-for-criterion-channel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/506406\/","title":{"rendered":"Sergei Loznitsa Clip on &#8216;Two Prosecutors,&#8217; Set for Criterion Channel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tUkrainian director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/sergei-loznitsa-interview-two-prosecutors-us-trump-new-film-1236310083\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sergei Loznitsa<\/a>\u2018s drama film <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-reviews\/two-prosecutors-review-sergei-loznitsa-1236210813\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Two Prosecutors<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/two-prosecutors-janus-films-1236297506\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Janus Films<\/a> released in cinemas in the U.S. earlier this year, will get its streaming premiere on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/criterion-channel\/\" id=\"auto-tag_criterion-channel_1\" data-tag=\"criterion-channel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Criterion Channel<\/a> on June 23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe adaptation of Georgy Demidov\u2019s eponymous novel, set in the Soviet Union in 1937 during Stalin\u2019s Great Purge, tells the story of a young local prosecutor and dedicated communist who starts to question his undying faith in the regime. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe film, starring Aleksandr Kuznetsov, Alexander Filippenko, Anatoli Beliy, Andris Kei\u0161s and Vytautas Kaniu\u0161onis, debuted at Cannes, then played in the\u00a059th edition\u00a0of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/kviff\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Karlovy Vary\u00a0International\u00a0Film Festival<\/a>\u00a0before screening at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOn the Criterion Channel, known for showcasing classics and discoveries from around the world, Two Prosecutors will be accompanied by The Trial, a 2018 documentary that Loznitsa assembled from footage of a 1930 Stalinist show trial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTHR can now also exclusively premiere a clip from a longer \u201cMeet the Filmmaker\u201d interview that the Criterion Channel produced with\u00a0Loznitsa on the occasion of its streaming deal for Two\u00a0Prosecutors. The full interview will premiere on the channel alongside the film. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn the exclusive segment below, Loznitsa explains how he first reached out to Romanian cinematographer Oleg Mutu, whose work he had admired in the likes of Cristian Mungiu\u2019s first Cannes Palme d\u2019Or-winning film 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. Loznitsa and Mutu, who was born in\u00a0what was back in the day the\u00a0Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic of the Soviet Union, have worked together on several films, and the director explains why and how the director of photography\u2019s sensitivities fit his first film so well. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCalling Mutu \u201ca great artist,\u201d Loznitsa also explains how the creative duo discussed the visual rules for Two Prosecutors.
