As <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2026\/06\/19\/nothing-cmf-phone-ram-costs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">9to5Google<\/a> reports, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis announced in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AkisEvangelidis\/status\/2067855233968156975?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">a post on X<\/a> that a follow-up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/657064\/nothing-cmf-phone-pro-2-launch-us-release-price-modules\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CMF Phone 2 Pro<\/a> won\u2019t be coming this year:<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup _1lkuyz88 _19wv7tc1\">We were working on a successor but with memory prices where they are right now, we can\u2019t build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF. As a result, we\u2019ve decided not to launch a new CMF phone this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/gadgets\/949403\/nothing-carl-pei-ram-phone-prices\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nothing CEO and co-founder Carl Pei<\/a> also said the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/839353\/pc-ram-shortage-pricing-spike-news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RAM shortage<\/a> has impacted the cost of the company\u2019s mid-range phone, stating, \u201cFor Phone 4A, memory costs doubled between when we decided to build the device and when it launched. They\u2019ve doubled again since.\u201d According to Pei, \u201cmemory is now the most expensive component in a smartphone.\u201d Nothing is far from the only company facing RAM pricing challenges \u2014 earlier this week, Tim Cook announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/951948\/apple-tim-cook-price-increases-ram\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apple will be raising prices<\/a>, saying \u201cthe situation has become unsustainable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">While there won\u2019t be a new CMF phone this year, Evangelidis added in his post that CMF still has \u201cseveral new products launching as well as some entirely new categories.\u201d He also hinted that \u201cthe smartphone launch season at Nothing isn\u2019t over yet.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nothing\u2019s next budget phone is the latest victim of RAMageddon.
