{"id":508812,"date":"2026-06-20T00:46:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T00:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/508812\/"},"modified":"2026-06-20T00:46:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T00:46:11","slug":"b-c-nurses-reject-tentative-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/508812\/","title":{"rendered":"B.C. nurses reject tentative agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nurses have voted 67 per cent to reject the tentative agreement reached between the Nurses\u2019 Bargaining Association (NBA) and B.C.\u2019s health employers on May 22.<\/p>\n<p>While the tentative agreement included important gains, most nurses want the government and health employers to recognize the value of their work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor many nurses, this vote was about more than the terms of a collective agreement,\u201d said BCNU President and Chair of the Provincial Bargaining Committee Adriane Gear. \u201cIt is about having agency \u2013 about having the opportunity to make their voices heard and express their frustration, their tenacity and absolute resolve for change. Nurses care deeply about their patients and their profession, but they are also telling us that the conditions they are working under cannot continue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>B.C.\u2019s nurses voted 98.2 per cent in favour of job action in May\u2019s strike vote. This was one of the strongest bargaining mandates in Canadian labour history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public sees crowded emergency departments, long waits for care and the challenges facing our health-care system,\u201d said Gear. \u201cNurses experience those pressures every shift.
