Keith Richards<\/a> has said Mick Jagger<\/a> \u201cwon\u2019t bloody stop\u201d making new music, crediting the singer\u2019s \u201cmomentum\u201d for the speed at which The Rolling Stones<\/a>\u2018 new album came together.<\/p>\n

The rock legends are gearing up to release their 25th studio effort, \u2018Foreign Tongues<\/a>\u2019, on July 10 via Polydor\/Universal Music. It\u2019s set to feature guest appearances from Paul McCartney<\/a>,\u00a0Robert Smith<\/a>,\u00a0Steve\u00a0Winwood<\/a>, and the band\u2019s late drummer\u00a0Charlie Watts<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 you can pre-order your copy\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the new album on the horizon, Richards sat down with the Guardian <\/a>and said Jagger showed no signs of slowing down. \u201cMick\u2019s been very prolific lately, which is one reason this album has come out so quick, because he won\u2019t bloody stop,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the momentum from \u2018Hackney Diamonds<\/a>\u2018 was such that this is basically carrying on in the same breath. I was just letting it roll \u2013 we had enough stuff if we wanted to keep pushing, and so Mick and I gave each other the usual wry look and said: \u2018Yeah, let\u2019s keep pushing.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the interview, Richards praised their producer Andrew Watt<\/a>, describing him as \u201ca breath of fresh air and a kick up the ass.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe knows his stuff musically and technically, and he doesn\u2019t put up with any bullshit \u2013 he just gets on with it,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I found him very easy to work with. He\u2019s a bit impetuous at times, but then so what?\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked whether Watt had ever had to challenge him directly, he replied: \u201cNo. But he may have given somebody a talking\u2011to.\u201d<\/p>\n

The full tracklist for the upcoming record was revealed last month, with the song titles appearing on streaming devices, but in actual foreign tongues<\/a>, and will include the previously released singles \u2018Rough And Twisted<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018In The Stars<\/a>\u2019, as well as a cover of\u00a0the Amy Winehouse classic \u2018You Know I\u2019m No Good\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the lead-up to its release, the band will launch Speaking In Tongues,\u00a0a new podcast featuring interviews with Jagger,\u00a0Richards\u00a0and\u00a0Ronnie Wood<\/a>, narrated by\u00a0Norah Jones<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The podcast will feature behind-the-scenes insight into the making of \u2018Foreign Tongues\u2019 over six episodes, with the band sharing studio techniques, creative influences and their songwriting process.<\/p>\n

As well as studio outtakes and never-before-heard new songs, the podcast will also feature contributions from Watt\u00a0and\u00a0The Cure<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0Robert Smith<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Steve Winwood<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 who both appear on the new album \u2013 and the record\u2019s cover artist, Nathaniel Mary Quinn.<\/p>\n

Last month, NME\u00a0went to the album\u2019s launch event<\/a>\u00a0in New York City, where the band discussed the\u00a0diversity of sound on their new album and a country track called \u2018Ringing Hollow\u2019. \u201cKeith and I, when we were really young, we both liked country music a lot,\u201d Jagger shared. \u201cWe would play it, we\u2019d always liked Hank Williams. You can\u2019t really imitate those people, but we absorbed that style. \u2018Ringing Hollow\u2019, which is a love song to America, I didn\u2019t want to express it in a rock way. I thought it was better that we did it in a country way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jagger also spoke about the inspiration for the album, saying: \u201cThe thing about this record that I find interesting. And you say, \u2018You\u2019ve got nothing to prove,\u2019 but The Stones is a rock band, but The Stones also has the ability to do ballads and country music and dance music, they run in the gamut of all these styles.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not stuck in one particular style; over the years, we\u2019ve loved all kinds of music. So, we express that in the way we record and what songs we write.\u201d<\/p>\n

Richards added: \u201cIt\u2019s quite possible that there\u2019s more in there. And that\u2019s what we\u2019re looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jagger also\u00a0recently opened up about the possibility of a new\u00a0Rolling Stones\u00a0tour being announced<\/a>, and said that he hopes to do some \u201cshows next year\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the release,\u00a0the Stones have also teamed up with Marvel to launch a special vinyl collector series<\/a>\u00a0for the record \u2013 with new limited edition artwork featuring Spider-Man, The Hulk, Captain America and more \u2013 and also\u00a0revealed how they ended up working with The Cure\u2019s Robert Smith<\/a>.<\/p>\n
