The Connecticut band Goose\u00a0have\u00a0declared their love for Brooklyn\u2019s\u00a0Geese<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Goose are the indie jam band from Wilton, Connecticut who formed in 2014 and just released their sixth studio record \u2018Big Modern!\u2019 on June 12, while Geese are the creators of NME\u2019s choice for the best album of 2025, \u2018Getting Killed\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The former\u00a0band\u00a0have the edge in terms of how long they have been around, but it is no surprise that they are now being asked about their\u00a0near-namesakes, given the buzz around them over the past year.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with\u00a0Consequence<\/a>, Goose frontman Rick Mitarotonda has given his take on the rise of Geese. \u201cI think they\u2019re great,\u201d he said. \u201cThat whole thing has been wild to watch. We were aware of them a few years ago \u2013 they played on a late night show, and we were like, \u2018Who are these kids Geese playing on a late night show, from Brooklyn?\u2019 Didn\u2019t pay too much attention from there. But then all of a sudden, obviously last year, it\u2019s been massive what they\u2019ve got going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was also full of praise for Geese frontman Cameron Winter<\/a>, adding: \u201cI\u2019d love to meet Cameron. He seems like a really intelligent and interesting and creative guy, a really unique voice, and I\u2019m excited to see where they go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Geese picked up the Brit Award for Best International Group last\u00a0year<\/a>, and\u00a0used their speech at the ceremony to pay tribute to\u00a0the late Stone Roses and Primal Scream bassist Mani<\/a>.<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0wrote about \u2018Getting Killed\u2019<\/a>: \u201cWho ordered this absurd, poetic explosion of jazz, rock and noise \u2013 where Radiohead<\/a>,\u00a0Black Midi<\/a>,\u00a0The Strokes<\/a>,\u00a0Van Morrison<\/a>, and Ukrainian choir samples collide without being crushed beneath the pretension? It\u2019s a rare, unpredictable record that comes with such melody in the madness, control in the chaos. It\u2019s a total thrill, but then \u201call people must smile in times of war\u201d, as Winter croons on \u2018100 Horses\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Getting Killed\u2019 should be enough to wake people up from their exhausted nostalgia and realise that New York \u2013 and guitar music at large \u2013 is alive and kicking down their front door. At least, it\u2019s easily the album of the year. Stay wild and carry on.\u201d<\/p>\n

At a show in March, Geese also debuted a new song titled \u2018Apollo\u2019 \u2013 a psych-rock leaning track that fans\u00a0speculated\u00a0could be a result of members of the band being\u00a0spotted in the studio with musicians from Tame Impala, Pond and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard<\/a>\u00a0in Australia that same month.<\/p>\n

Geese have also been announced as the final headliner for End\u00a0Of\u00a0The\u00a0Road 2026<\/a>, joining Pulp<\/a>,\u00a0CMAT<\/a>,\u00a0Super Furry Animals<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Mac DeMarco<\/a>.<\/p>\n
