{"id":510400,"date":"2026-06-21T00:50:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T00:50:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/510400\/"},"modified":"2026-06-21T00:50:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T00:50:18","slug":"drivers-think-they-are-in-mondello-in-kildare-estate-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/510400\/","title":{"rendered":"Drivers think they are in &#8216;Mondello&#8217; in Kildare estate &#8211; News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Kildare County Council will carry out a traffic safety assessment in a Newbridge estate said to be blighted by speeding, with some drivers allegedly \u201cthinking that they\u2019re in Mondello\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">This emerged at the most recent meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, where cllr Chris Pender proposed that the local authority carries out an assessment at Standhouse Lawns \u201cand identify suitable traffic calming measures to address resident concerns, including traffic calming, signage, road markings, speed monitoring and any other appropriate measures\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Area engineer Carthac de Br\u00ed issued the council\u2019s response, stating that the municipal district office will carry out an assessment at the location.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The reply added that \u201cif traffic calming measures are deemed to be required, then it will be added to the list of locations identified for traffic calming measures\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Cllr Pender welcomed the report and noted that other councillors have previously raised the issue.
