Metallica<\/a> guitarist Kirk Hammett fell from the stage just days after drawing criticism from Swifties over a T-shirt he wore on tour.<\/p>\n

The incident took place during Metallica\u2019s performance of \u2018Seek & Destroy\u2019 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Friday (June 19), when Hammett appeared to fall after a stage cover gave way beneath him near the edge of the stage.<\/p>\n

Footage shared online showed fans helping the guitarist back up, with Hammett quickly recovering and continuing the song. He later joked about the moment on\u00a0his\u00a0Instagram Stories, captioning a clip: \u201cSlip & Destroy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fall came after Hammett drew criticism from Taylor Swift<\/a> fans for wearing a T-shirt reading \u201cTaylor Swift Is A CIA Psyop\u201d during Metallica\u2019s June 13 show at Pusk\u00e1s Ar\u00e9na in Budapest.<\/p>\n

This satirical shirt humorously critiques and mocks the absurdity of the real-world conspiracy theories that assert Swift is a government asset.<\/p>\n

Images of the shirt circulated on social media in the days that followed, prompting backlash from some Swifties online. Hammett has not publicly addressed the reaction to the shirt.<\/p>\n

Metallica are currently on\u00a0the\u00a0UK and\u00a0European leg of their ongoing \u2018M72\u2019 world tour<\/a>. The Dublin show was the first of two nights at Aviva Stadium, with\u00a0Pantera<\/a> and Avatar supporting. The band are due to return to the venue tonight (June 21), with Gojira <\/a>and Knocked Loose<\/a>\u00a0also on the bill.<\/p>\n

The \u2018M72\u2019 tour has seen Metallica continue their \u201cNo Repeat Weekend\u201d format, with different setlists and support acts across two-night stops. The band will bring the tour to the UK later this month and in July, with shows scheduled in Glasgow, Cardiff and London.<\/p>\n

Metallica have also\u00a0announced two further US shows for November<\/a>, with\u00a0Suicidal Tendencies <\/a>and\u00a0Spiritbox<\/a>\u00a0set to join them for a pair of dates in Connecticut.\u00a0Their residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, meanwhile, will run from October 2026 to March 2027<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a four-star review of Metallica\u2019s \u2018M72\u2019 tour opener in Amsterdam<\/a>,\u00a0NME wrote: \u201cMetallica have always been a gateway band for heavy music, but there\u2019s a renewed excitement around them now. Tonight\u2019s surprising, ambitious and giddy gig matches that energy at every turn.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere,\u00a0Metallica recently teamed up with UK blood services<\/a>\u00a0to urge fans to donate blood and plasma around their upcoming UK tour dates.<\/p>\n

The band have also announced \u2018Reload (Remastered)\u2019<\/a>, a newly expanded reissue of their 1997 album featuring previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, live performances and more, due for release on\u00a0Friday (June 26).<\/p>\n
