{"id":511856,"date":"2026-06-22T01:25:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T01:25:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/511856\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T01:25:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T01:25:13","slug":"investments-to-china-decrease-further","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/511856\/","title":{"rendered":"Investments to China decrease further"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Liao Chia-ning<br \/>\nand Fion Khan   \/  Staff reporter, with staff writer <\/p>\n<p>Taiwanese firms\u2019 China investments have dwindled to less than 1 percent of their total foreign investments, putting China-based investments on track for a record low this year, Ministry of Economic Affairs data showed. <\/p>\n<p>Taiwan\u2019s investments abroad in the first five months of this year reached US$35.92 billion, Department of Investment Review data showed. <\/p>\n<p>Investments outside China totaled US$35.61 billion, up 133.94 percent year-on-year, while investments in China totaled US$310.3 million, down 32.3 percent and about 0.86 percent of the total, data showed. <\/p>\n<p>                        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/P01-260622-pic1cAAA.jpg\" width=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Photo: AFP<\/p>\n<p>Major overseas projects included Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co\u2019s (TSMC, \u53f0\u7a4d\u96fb) US$30 billion capital injection into an overseas subsidiary, Wiwynn Corp\u2019s (\u7def\u7a4e) US$500 million investment in its US holding and operating subsidiaries, as well as Asustek Computer Inc\u2019s (\u83ef\u78a9) US$500 million capital increase for a Singapore subsidiary, data showed. <\/p>\n<p>It is believed that Taiwan\u2019s increasingly critical role in the global artificial intelligence supply chain and major economies\u2019 efforts to develop \u201cnon-red\u201d supply chains have contributed to the surge in overseas investment outside China. <\/p>\n<p>Taiwanese businesses have been reportedly placing growing emphasis on risk management and operational resilience as China\u2019s low-cost advantages diminish, resulting in the fall in their investment in the country. <\/p>\n<p>Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (\u4e2d\u83ef\u7d93\u6fdf\u7814\u7a76\u9662) First Research Division director Liu Meng-chun (\u5289\u5b5f\u4fca) said structural weaknesses in China\u2019s domestic demand are unlikely to improve significantly in the near term, as three factors are expected to continue to weigh on consumption: <\/p>\n<p>First, the property market downturn has eroded household wealth;
