Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and pedestrian in North Mayo earlier today (Sunday).<\/p>\n
At approximately 11.20am, Garda\u00ed and emergency services were alerted after a pedestrian was struck by a car on the N59 at Eskeragh, Crossmolina.<\/p>\n
The pedestrian, a male child, was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
The body of the deceased has been conveyed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital.<\/p>\n
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.<\/p>\n
The local coroner has been notified.<\/p>\n
The scene is preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local traffic diversions are in place.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.<\/p>\n
Road users and pedestrians with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area between 10.40am and 11.40am on Sunday, June 21st, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
