Saturday morning cartoons are getting a nostalgic dose of the Sixties with a show that has been off the air for decades.<\/a><\/p>\n

Iconic animated caveman family<\/a> the Flintstones will return to television screens with revamped episodes of spinoff series The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, which first premiered in 1971 after the original Flintstones ended its initial run in 1966.<\/p>\n

The spinoff by Hanna-Barbera Productions is centered on Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble <\/a>\u2014 who were toddlers on the original show \u2014 as teenagers who attend Bedrock High School and have a rock band called The Bedrock Rockers. Sally Struthers voices Pebbles, while Jay North voices Bamm-Bamm. The ensemble voice cast also includes Mitzi McCall, Gay Hartwig, Lennie Weinrib and Carl Esser.<\/p>\n

MeTV Toons is scheduled to air the cartoon <\/a>each Saturday at 11:30 a.m. ET. The network played the series\u2019 first episode, \u201cGridiron Girl Trouble,\u201d June 20. The show\u2019s second episode, \u201cPutty in Her Hands,\u201d will air June 27. A description of the episode on MeTV Toons reads: \u201cAfter being offered free art lessons at a local school from a con artist, Pebbles vows to prove her artistic abilities with the assistance of Bamm-Bamm to spite her rival Cindy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show aired for 16 episodes after its 1971 premiere. Reruns of its first and only season were eventually incorporated into the The Flintstone Comedy Hour show in 1972.<\/p>\n

The series followed the success of the 1966 film The Man Called Flintstone. William Hanna and Joseph Barbera executive produced the episodes, while Joe Ruby and Ken Spears \u2014 the creators of Scooby-Doo, Where are You! \u2014 were story editors on the show.<\/p>\n

MeTV Toons currently airs reruns of the original Flintstones series seven days a week <\/a>at 6:30 p.m. ET on weeknights and 7:30 p.m. ET on weekends.<\/p>\n

The original The Flintstones aired from 1960 to 1966 on ABC. It was the first animated sitcom ever, and the first cartoon with a primetime slot on television. <\/p>\n

The show takes place in a comical version of the Stone Age and centers around Fred and Wilma Flintstone and their daughter, Pebbles, and their pets. It also follows the Flintstones\u2019 neighbors and best friends Barney and Betty Rubble, who adopt their abnormally strong baby boy Bamm-Bamm and have a pet kangaroo.<\/p>\n

The iconic series was produced by Oscar winners Hanna and Barbera, who were famous for their work on Tom and Jerry.
